Lamont Falsely Claims Union Endorsement During Statewide Debate; Union Actually Supports Joe Ganim For Governor

BRIDGEPORT --- Ned Lamont falsely claimed during last night’s statewide televised debate that he has the support of the “plumbers and pipefitters union.”

Lamont said in response to a question about the number of bathrooms in his house:

“I do have the support of the plumbers and pipefitters union by the way.  I’m very proud of that.”  Click here to view a video of Lamont’s statement.

Simply not true.

Michael Rosario, Business Manager and Financial Secretary-Treasurer of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 777, which represents all union plumbers and pipefitters in the state of Connecticut, approximately 2,800 members, has authorized the Ganim campaign to issue the following statement in his name.  He is also available to reporters for comment.

“Mr. Lamont’s claim during last night’s debate that he’s been endorsed by the Plumbers and Pipefitters is simply not true.  We are disappointed Mr. Lamont would use a statewide debate to falsely claim an endorsement he has not earned. In fact, our union and its members strongly support Joe Ganim, who is a true friend of working men and women in this state.”
