Bridgeport – Bridgeport mayor and Democratic candidate for governor Joe Ganim has reached the 10,000 signature milestone in his petition drive to get on the Democratic primary ballot in August. Ganim needs to collect just under 15,500 verified signatures of registered Democratic voters by June 12th to qualify for the primary ballot.
“Our diverse, grassroots campaign continues to gain momentum headed into this weekend’s state Democratic Party Convention, and the 10,000 signature milestone is significant,” said Ganim. “As other candidates drop out of the race, one thing remains clear, that I will be on the Democratic primary ballot so voters have a choice. Our campaign is one of diversity and inclusiveness, and the success of our signature drive shows that a broad spectrum of Connecticut residents are joining our team.”
Mayor Ganim says he’s continuing to work towards obtaining the support of 15 percent of Democratic delegates in order to get on the primary ballot automatically.
