Ganim Praises State House For Passing Bump Stock Device Ban

Bridgeport Bridgeport Mayor and Democratic candidate for governor Joe Ganim is praising the state House of Representatives for passage of House Bill 5542, An Act Concerning Bump Stocks and Other Means of Enhancing the Rate of a Firearm.  The bill would ban the sale of bump stocks and other rapid fire devices in Connecticut, and would require current owners of the devices to dispose of them or render them permanently inoperable.

“Bump stock devices are designed to kill large numbers of people, and have no place in Connecticut,” Ganim said.  “Last year’s carnage at a concert in Las Vegas carried out by a man using bump stocks to increase shooting capacity highlights the need to ban these devices.  I urge the Senate to follow the lead of the House and approve this bill as well.”
