Joe has praised the state House of Representatives for approval of House Bill 5386, An Act Concerning Various Pay Equity and Fairness Matters. The measure would bar employers from asking about a prospective employee’s wage and salary history.
“Women have earned less money than their male counterparts in the workplace for way too long,” said Joe. “I urge the Senate to follow the lead of the House and pass this important legislation to help level the playing field for women in Connecticut.”
According to a recent study by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, women in the U.S. earn 80 cents for every dollar a man earns. The study shows that the gap in Connecticut is larger, where women earn 77 cents for every dollar earned by a man.
